Final Bloom – a Poem for Ophelia Chong

The flames, seeing the Phoenix borne aloft, dance themselves slowly to death, umber and dark, calling that rapacious bird home once more, but it’s autumn, and the fiery Phoenix marvels at it’s birth-blooms, red leaves of fire, and the warmth of the womb.
Still, life. Still.
