Day #220 – Keeping Track

Tuesday

2012/11/20

The recovering addict can usually tell you right down to the very hour, and minute when last they took drugs. I took my last line of cocaine 220 days ago, on a Sunday morning, somewhere between 4am and 5am.

That Sunday was the longest of my life, but also, the first time I began to understand how I would break free of my addiction, because when I arrived home, the first thing I did was tell my family that I had fallen off the wagon.

That Monday, 16 April, I began this blog, keeping a daily record of my recovery.

It matters.
