An Invitation To Share.

The man who shared his fear of living – and found a safe place to be…

The man who shared his rage and aggression – and who found strength in his vulnerability…

The woman who shared the story of her rape – and found forgiveness from herself…

The boy who shared the truth about his sexuality – and found, in the group, acceptance…

The man who shared his mother’s disapproval – and found the only approval he needed was from himself…

The girl who shared her fear of people – and found a voice with which to speak…

The man who shared from the brink of death – and found himself, alive…

The man who shared his fear of emotion – and found the tears to cry…

The man who shared the loss of all he had – and found freedom in its place…

The woman who shared the news of her death sentence – and who found a new lease on life…

The group who shared their stories of addiction – and who have found hope in recovery…

The people who shared rock bottom – and who had found, in the chaos, each other…

The heroes who shared the truth about the lies – and who own absolution in their new-found honesty…

THESE are the heroes that shared my story, tonight. Who sat and listened as I unravelled 39 years of life and put it back together – so that it works. These are the friends who, like me, got lost in the noise – and who have found serenity.

It works, if you work it. So work it. You’re worth it.

  1. If there is one thing I’ve learnt through being an eye witness on this journey is the depth to which you have to go to admit and seek help of this nature. So definitely unsung heroes, as with all heroes this is not done for pray or glory but as a matter of self-worth and importance to you.

I salute you all for having the courage to face the world when its ready to turn its back on you. To face the music of your past blasting at you full volume, and yet in that managed to see the rewards and beauty in the things others so easily take for granted.

Go forth and continue your journey and you work yourself back rock bottom!

    1. It’s so important to recognise that for each of these people I talked about, the REAL hero stares out at them from the mirror, every time they look in it.
